Frequently Asked Questions – Mocha Tribe

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the shelf life of coffee?

Once a sealed coffee bag is opened, it’s best to enjoy it within four weeks. However, you can extend the life of your coffee by limiting it’s exposure to air. A vacuum canister is a great way to keep your coffee fresher for longer.

How can I find out about special offers and announcements?

Sign up for our newsletter on the bottom of this page and follow us on Instagram.

What brew methods do you recommend?

We source and roast beans that have great versatility across many devices, so the right method often comes down to personal preference. To help with whichever method you choose, we have a variety of resources for your brewing edification. Our preparation guides cover a variety of brew methods in detail. There are also a number of excellent articles on our blog, covering a number of brewing methods.

Can you send me beans to review for my magazine / blog / podcast / newsletter?

As a matter of policy, we don't like to send out review samples or solicit reviews. If you've read somebody saying nice things about our coffee, rest assured it is probably because they truly are and not because we are bribing them. Press inquiries can be directed to attila@mymochatribe.com.

Can I get more of the last subscription coffee you sent me?

With our subscriptions, you'll nearly always be able to order more of the coffee you just received.

When will I be billed for my subscription?

Subscription shipments are billed the day before your coffee is scheduled to roast and ship.

What are the subscription options?

Signing up allows you to tailor your subscription to specifically meet your coffee needs. Just choose how much, how often and what type of coffee and we’ll ensure that it is roasted to order then shipped to your door when you want it.

How much? For our bagged bean subscriptions, we offer Standard Bag (12oz). For our Single Serve Pods, we offer 24 count boxes.

How often? Select how frequently you would like to receive your coffee; whether it's every one, three, or six months, we’ll make sure you are well stocked.

When will my order ship?

If you are a new subscriber or have started a trial, welcome! Your first order was created when you signed up. We make sure you always receive fresh coffee your order will roast in 2 business days. As soon as your coffee is roasted we will ship your order.

What shipping methods are available for coffee?

Coffee is shipped via either USPS First Class, USPS Priority or USPS Priority Express. First Class and USPS Priority have a stated estimated shipping time of 1-5 days, while USPS Priority Express offers a 1-3 day expedited service.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Currently we accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover as well as PayPal.

Can I pause or cancel my subscription?

Going on vacation? Too much coffee and need to hit pause? Just want to take a break? No need to cancel. It’s easy to skip one or more shipments.

Shoot over an email to support@mymochatribe.com and ask to Pause Your Subscription.

The choice is yours:

    • Skip Next Shipment: Skip just your next scheduled shipment
    • Pause my subscription until…: Pause your subscription by choosing a date on which you want it to automatically resume

And voila! The subscription is now paused and will automatically resume on the date indicated! An email confirmation will be sent to the email address associated with the account.

Please allow us 10 business days to process these type of transactions. If you send a request within 10 business days, we cannot guarantee that your next order won't be charged and shipped, although we will still pause your subscription for the next order and shipment.

Still want to cancel?

We are sorry to see you leaving, but feel free to e-mail us at cancel@mymochatribe.com and we will cancel your subscription. If you send a request within 10 business days of your next shipment, we cannot guarantee that your next order won't be charged and shipped, although we will still cancel your starting with the next upcoming shipment and you won't be charged for that.

Can I delay shipment of my order?

Mocha Tribe subscriptions can be paused and set to automatically resume on a specific date. At this time, we are unable to delay the shipment of coffee, merchandise, or brewing equipment order made from the web shop.

What sort of emails do you send?

We send a few types of emails:

Personal Offers & Promotions: Occasionally we send out a heads-up about something special — a limited release coffee or maybe a new Tribe Session..

Coffee Order Reminders: Every so often, we send emails reminding you about our services — that a previous coffee purchase is available to easily re-order, or that you might still have an item in your cart.

Check-ins: We check in now and again to make sure everything is ok with your Mocha Tribe experience or remind you that you can always reach out for help if you need it (at support@mymochatribe.com, by the way).

What is your return policy?

Are your coffees Fair Trade Certified?

Our coffee buyers proudly place a great amount of emphasis on quality and sustainability, both from an environmental and economic standpoint.

We purchase a number of coffees from Fair Trade certified cooperatives; however, many producers decide it’s in their best financial interest to channel their resources toward continued advances in quality and sustainability instead of the expensive process of certification. We like to factor a producer’s efforts toward greater quality as well as environmental and economic responsibility into our purchasing decisions, regardless of their certification status.

Moving forward, it is our intention not only to maintain, but to expand our efforts to search for the best sustainable coffees the world has to offer.

How should I store my coffee?

We recommend storing coffee in a cool, dry place, away from heat and light, in its original packaging, or an airtight container.

The levels of moisture present in the refrigerator and freezer can greatly accelerate flavor loss. We don't recommend storing beans in the refrigerator and can only recommend storage in the freezer under specific circumstances (namely long term, uninterrupted periods).

For a more in-depth look into coffee storage (including the tips when using a freezer), take a look at the article we posted on our blog, “How to Store Coffee Beans”.

Are your coffees Certified Organic?

Mocha Tribe’s roaster in Los Angeles, CA is Certified Organic by CCOF, following all protocols and systems required to maintain this certification.

Do you ship to my country?

Coffee subscriptions are currently only available in the US but we will be delivering globally soon.
